Bio

Rep. Chris King a resident of Bucks County for over 20 years, was elected to the state House in 2006. King grew up in Middletown Township and graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1994. He was an active member of the campus community as a student at Millersville University where he earned his degree in political science and economics. In his senior year at Millersville, King was honored with a community service award for outstanding service. After graduation, he earned a post-baccalaureate teaching certificate, also from Millersville.

In 2002, King was appointed by then newly-elected Gov. Ed Rendell to serve on the Education Transition Team. As a member of the team, he helped develop policy initiatives and determine educational programs for the governor to pursue during his first term.

King moved on to work as a budget and policy analyst for the state legislature working on projects to cut wasteful state spending, property tax reform and evaluate initiatives to protect the environment.

King has shown an ongoing dedication to serve his community. In addition to his public service, he directed clothing and food drives at Millersville to benefit the Water Street Rescue Mission. He also has served as a fundraising drive coordinator for Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a charitable foundation assisting cancer survivors in all stages of the disease.

King’s legislative priorities include expanding health-care coverage for residents across the state, securing Bucks County’s fair share of property tax relief, reforming operating procedures in Harrisburg and exploring alternative energy options to reduce Pennsylvania’s dependence on foreign oil.
